| 1984 It
would be fair to say that GRATTON GRANGE stood out as the leading British
bred of 1983, but of the six finalists in 1984 final there were two pairs
of litter mates, a dog from his sire’s only litter and a dog that
would go on to make history.
The winner QUEEN LISA (MAPLEHURST STAR x TYREAN Aug. 82) reached the final,
with two thirds and a runner-up spot in the semi-final behind litter brother
MAPLEHURST BOY. On the night that mattered QUEEN LISA trapped well and
built a commanding lead and had six lengths to spare at the line from
NORFOLK SLAVE (SLAVE I AM x CORRALS GIFT) a member of his sires only litter.
The final was completed by PELHAM EXPRESS and PELHAM PLAYBOY litter mates
(LACCA CHAMPION x TRISH THE DISH), in fifth place was Puppy Derby winner
BENS CHAMPION (LACCA CHAMPION x RAFFLES BRIDGE) the last dog to beat BALLYREGAN
BOB.
