the event started few would have bet against the big striding 37kg. brindle
FEARLESS CHAMP (SPECIAL ACCOUNT x SARAHS BUNNY), one of the fastest dogs
in training, reaching the final of the British Breeders Produce Stakes.
By a Derby runner-up out of a Derby winner FEARLESS CHAMP became the second
dog in three years to run unbeaten through the event. Starting at odds
of 1/5, 1/5, 2/5 and 8/11, his times during the competition were 28.38,
28.52, 28.52 and 28.64, when beating HI THERE TRINA (GLENROE HIKER x TRlNA
CEILI) by 2 lengths. The runner-up was ha1f sister to the 1983 runner-up
TRINAS SAMURAI. The connections of the winner picked up a cheque for £10,000
and a trophy, as in 1983 the breeders prize, a cheque for £1,000
for the dog going the furthest in the competition was won by the breeder
of the runner-up.
